About Us

Bearings Skateboard Academy Is An All-Inclusive Youth Focused Skateboard Facility Located In Bend, Oregon.

In addition to our indoor skatepark, Bearings offers one-on-one lessons, summer skateboard camps, open skate sessions, girls skate sessions, old guy night, birthday parties, skate movie nights and additional skateboard related programs. Our goal at BSA is to create a fun, friendly and positive skateboarding experience for all ages and ability levels. We believe that providing the youth with a safe and chaperoned place to skate, fills a current void in our community.

Gabe Triplette - Owner & Head Skateboard Coach

Gabe Triplette has been skateboarding for 33 years and working as a professional coach for over 14 years now. Gabe has a passion for skateboard progression and breaking down what it takes to unlock new tricks. He has developed his own system of drills as well as techniques that create a step by step process making it possible for anyone to step on a skateboard, safely gain control and have fun while doing so. When he's not working with our students, Gabe enjoys spending time with his family, snowboarding, and playing golf.

Derek Graham - Skateboard Coach

Originally from Lake Tahoe, California, Derek has lived in Bend for the last 11 years. He was a competitive skateboarder through his early teens and has been skating for 14 years now. Derek has coached skiing and Flowrider surfing in the past and we're super stoked to have him on board!

Janna Weatherby - Skateboard Coach

Janna Weatherby was born to stand sideways. Growing up in Big Bear Lake, California, she found snowboarding at an early age and took her love of the sport to the highest competitive levels winning 6 X-Games Medals for Slopestyle (4 Gold, 1 Silver and a Bronze). Skateboarding has always been a fun activity in the off-season for Janna. After retiring from professional snowboarding in 2012 and starting her own family of mini rippers, she's a great addition to BSA's coaching staff!

Dorian Adams - Skateboard Coach

My name Is Dorian. I was born in Thousand Oaks, California. I Was first Introduced to Skateboarding when I was five, by my Dad. Ever since then I've been Hooked. I really Enjoy the feeling of Progression. I will Always Have My Heart In Skateboarding. I learned from Other People, so I feel like it's only right to pass the torch as much as possible. Besides Skateboarding I just like being outside & traveling.

Travis Darling - Skateboard Coach

My name is Travis Darling and I’ve been skating for 15 years. I started taking private lessons with Gabe Tripplette when I was just 11 years old and from then on my skill and ability increased exponentially. It is my goal and intention to pass the torch of fun and enjoyment for this creative outlet, we call skateboarding, to future generations. I became a coach because I love to inspire the youth to go beyond what they think they can do and I get to act as a guide and example for their growth along the way. I currently ride for the same company that my first skateboard I stepped on came from: Tactics, a boardshop based out of my hometown in Eugene, Oregon.

Willow Fraser - Roller Skate Coach

Willow Fraser was born in Portland, OR and moved to Bend at age 7. She roller skated at rinks as a young child, but fell in love with skating again after joining roller derby at 17. Willow participated in the sport off and on for several years until she decided to give park skating a try. In January 2018, she founded the Bend "Chicks in Bowls" chapter - an international organization aimed at spreading the stoke for quad skating in skateparks. Since then, she has organized several meetups & skills workshops all around Oregon to bring quad skaters together. She also attended Upper Level Skate Camp in Rye, NH twice, as a coach, for beginner and intermediate level classes. Willow is so excited to start the roller skate program at Bearings Skateboard Academy in hopes to help the Central Oregon roller skate community continue to grow.
