About Us

Bearings Skateboard Academy is an all-inclusive youth focused skateboard facility located in Bend, Oregon.

In addition to our indoor skatepark, Bearings offers one-on-one lessons, summer skateboard camps, open skate sessions, girls skate sessons, old guy night, birthday parties, skate movie nights and additional skateboard related programs. Our goal at BSA is to create a fun, friendly and positive skateboarding experience for all ages and ability levels. We believe that providing the youth with a safe, chaperoned place to skate fills a current void in our community.

Gabe Triplette, Head Coach

Our Head Coach, Gabe Triplette has been skateboarding for 31 years and working as a professional coach for over 11 years. Gabe has a passion for skateboard progression and breaking down what it takes to unlock new tricks. He has developed his own system of drills and techniques that create a step by step process making it possible for anyone to step on a skateboard, safely gain control and have fun.  When he's not working with our students, Gabe enjoys spending time with his girls, snowboarding and playing golf.

Gordon Boehm, Manager/Coach

Gordon has been hooked on skateboarding since he first stepped on a board in 1984.  He traveled and competed as a sponsored skater into the early 90s.  Gordon has a background in business management, coached freestyle snowboarding for the Crested Butte Academy while in college and coached skateboard camps in Bend during the summer. Before joining the BSA team, he managed an online skateboard retailer.  Outside of Bearings, Gordon enjoys spending time with his family, surfing and snowboarding.

Garrick Pettijohn, Coach

Coming to us from Grants Pass, Oregon is Garrick Pettijohn.  Garrick started skateboarding when he was 9 years old and traveled and competed in events until he was 16.  At 17 years old he started coaching skateboarding for Windell's and then moved to Bend in 2011.  In 2014, he started coaching at Bearings and has been an invaluable asset to the company.  His calm, patient approach and lightning quick footwork make him an excellent coach. When he's not at BSA you can find him coaching gymnastics, snowboarding on Mt. Bachelor or camping and hiking with his dog, Rooka.

Derek Graham, Coach

Originally from Lake Tahoe, California, Derek has lived in Bend for the last 11 years.  He was a competitive skateboarder through his early teens and has been skating for 14 years.  Derek has coached skiing and Flowrider surfing in the past and is the latest coach to join the BSA Team.  We're super stoked to have him onboard!
